I was talking with a few coworkers about how the summer has flown by and one of them made the comment that 4th of July weekend marks the end of summer. Kind of funny to think that way considering the first day of summer is June 21st and that students get out of school on June 18th. In Baltimore students tend to go back around Labor Day, but if they play a sport they are already doing training, when they hit August double and triple sessions begin. A lot of families take vacation the last week of July or the first week of August, so coordinating anyone and getting things started can be like grinding teeth. It stinks, so what do you do?
I usually hide under my desk and cry for three straight days. Then when I realize that everyone is staring at me I:
- Look at my schedule to make sure deadlines are recorded and goals are set.
- I pump up my leadership. I try not to plan too many agenda, informational meetings, instead I try to have my ministry leaders vision cast and get them psyched up.
- Spend more time with God or more quality time. Remember He’s the one who is going to help you make it happen.
So now that summer is “over” don’t panic, know that you have several weeks of Summerall (the season between summer and fall for all of us to get our stuff done)
