Last week I was occupied with S*Mile (Summer of Going the Extra Mile) Work Camp an event put together by Immaculate Conception, Cathedral, St. Joe’s and us. I’ll admit I was reluctant about doing this and even the first day not sure if participating in the event was a good idea, but over the week God taught me humility and in the end I think this is a large milestone in the relationship of the four parishes and the relationship I have with these other youth ministers.
I learned about their dreams, desires and vision for ministry and how it’s not too far for what I hope for in youth ministry. It appears that they have different obstacles and things holding them back from what they want to do. I’m hoping that as we move forward that we can all work together more closely.
But now that S*Mile is over with it’s time to focus on the upcoming year. One month to go and this is what I have on my list:
– August 17th kickoff meeting
– Recruiting more ministers for Ascent
– Setting up new webpages for youth programs
– Begin writing messages for first series
– Make sure Mentors are contacting Confirmation Candidates
I’m pretty set to get started on all these things; however, I’m a little nervous about Ascent, but I feel that’s because it’s a brand new program. So I’ll do what I need to do but I know God will provide the rest.
