21 Movie Review

Last night Kate and I had some friends over to watch a movie, we rented 21 starring Kevin Spacy, Lawrence Fishburne and Kate Bosworth. The movie was pretty good, and fun. It’s about a college student from MIT looking to make some money to pay for his tuition fee to Harvard Medical School. When facing this dilemma he’s given an opportunity to make money through black jack, but what separates him from the rest of the crowd is his ability to count cards.
What got my interest in the movie was how good of a teaching tool this can be especially for our first series of the year called The Squeeze. There are so many times when the main character is pressured by other people to do things that are questionable. The movie paints a good moral dilemma, should he just do his best to earn money in an honest way or do it the quick way, neither of which turn out to be too easy. Anyway, story was fun, acting was good, parts were slow but didn’t take away from the overall feel. Grade: B
