What I’ve Learned from Speaking at Big Church

I’ve learned a lot from the last two weeks of speaking in front of big church. This is what I have:

  • I don’t necessarily need a script, I can memorize and go from the heart.
  • What’s funny to adults isn’t necessarily funny to teens (and vice versa).
  • More people know who I am and what I do.
  • One of the most powerful ways to communicate is through story.
  • As much as I like talking to adults, I’ll always be a youth pastor by heart.
I’m looking forward to fine tuning details for the student programs, I’ve got some great ministers working on putting together some awesome programs. I’m hoping to recruit some more ministers as the days tick closer to the kickoff (we need middle school girl small group leaders, and crowd ministers). Also, I’m praying constantly for high school students to come to our September 10th kickoff for Uprising.
