VBS from a Youth Pastor’s Point of View Day 4

I’ve created a monster, teens are asking “How’s your chicken?”, now the little kids are asking, “How’s your chicken?” Just in case you haven’t picked up on what we are doing, I bought 2 rubber chickens earlier in the week and hid them around the building. If a student finds the chicken and manages to hold onto it by 12:30pm today, they will win a prize. The only way someone can take a chicken from another person is by asking, “How’s your chicken?”. The game started off slow at the beginning of the week but now it’s crazy. Students, are demanding to tell me where they are, one problem is I don’t know where chicken #2 is, only #1 and I won’t tell. But I’ve left plenty of clues. The game is great for me because the teens are invested in working together (they’ve formed alliances), it’s become a little bit of a distraction, but nonetheless it’s a great time.
I will not be able to enjoy this tomorrow considering I’ll be heading to Ohio for the confirmation retreat but I’m glad to see Vacation Bible School with all of it’s energy and God’s love spreading through the building.
