Overcoming Obstacles

I had a mini explosion this morning. Someone informed me that it was going to rain tomorrow during our Uprising Kickoff Tailgate and I just didn’t want to hear it. I know I can’t control the weather, I was just feeling as if people were “raining on my parade”. People have been telling me the conflicts associated with doing a program on Thursday nights all summer and I’m at the point where it doesn’t really matter. Thursday night is an optimal time, there is no perfect time, but I believe Thursday night is an optimal time.

It’s tough to work in church ministry because you are always battling something. It can be television, after school activities, homework, family night, parties, burnout, sports, etc. and that’s a brutal fact we all have to face. If you have a program or if you have a ministry you are going to compete with other things, things that are good for you and things that are bad for you. The best thing we can do as ministers is allow God to take control, lead us and guide us.
Tomorrow’s going to be great because of one thing, we are giving students an opportunity in an irresistible environment to connect in authentic relationships that will guide them to a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.
