Last night I had a writing meeting for the last series of 2009 (Advent Conspiracy) and the first series of 2010 (Impact). I think we are finally getting somewhere in regards to what we are trying to do and where we are bringing the students. It’s happening because of a number of reasons; 1. the team is more familiar with one another, 2. there has been clarification in the process 3. we’ve learned a lot from our mistakes.
Our system isn’t perfect but it’s moving in the right direction. It’s been difficult for me to do this because it’s releasing ownership of something I love, and it’s been about being okay with other people’s ideas (even if I’m not certain about them). I’m loving the results because I’m feeling more free about what needs to get done, I’m sharing the burden and even if mistakes are made that’s okay as long as we learn. I have to remember too it wasn’t perfect when I was doing it all on my own. And even though it’s difficult to pass on, delegate and share ownership it gets easier the more you do it. Plus, when you share a piece of the vision people really begin to step up.
