Tuesday afternoon Mike and Sam stopped by to work on the “super computer” they are installing in the back. Okay it’s not really a super computer but they’ve been working on the tech board like crazy and it’s amazing to see how much it’s changed. Mike’s a freshman and Sam a sophomore and we were reminiscing about how the tech board use to be a projector with a laptop connected to it 4 years ago when I first started. Granted it’s nothing to really go crazy about, but we have switch boards, sound boards, monitors, 100ft cables and a better computer. It’s just been amazing to see it grow. But what’s more amazing is to see the amount of pride and ownership the teens are taking in this ministry.
I reflect back to last year and at this time I was tired and burned out. My ministers…the ones who were still standing I’m sure felt the same. But now we are going into our last 4 weekends of programming and people are feeling good, feeling strong, in a way there is less of a relief that the year is over and more of an excitement to begin planning next. Even though last year had it’s lessons and it’s wins in the end I’m glad that we are past that. This past year has been all about tweaking, improving, refining and just getting better. And you can tell we have been getting better just by watching the minister’s attitudes. I know a big change from last year to this year is that I’m not as prideful, not as ignorant or scared. I’m encouraged and challenged by a great group of ministers (adults and teens) and I look forward to seeing this ministry grow.
Anyway, Mike and Sam want to work here…them just saying that is a huge win, because it means we are on the right track to making this place an irresistible environment.
