Name Dropping God.

Have you ever done one of those things where you send money to some kid in another country? I started doing that about two years ago and it’s been something that I wish I took more advantage of. I just got done writing letters to Alfred and Deborah two kids that live in Uganda. Deborah knows how to write really in English and Alfred writes through a translator. It’s great to hear about their lives because it’s so different from mine, but the thing I really enjoy about their letters is how much they refer to God. Now, I don’t know if they feel obligated because the organization I use (Compassion International) is a Christian one or if because that’s how they really feel. No matter what it’s just encouraging for my own personal faith when they talk about how God works in their lives. I guess I wish I was more consistent with that, telling people I’m praying for the them, that they are not alone, etc. And I’m not talking about name dropping God with everyone I speak to, but I’m mostly talking about encouraging other Christians. I think we sometimes get in trouble with the world because we never differentiate the use of God between Christians and non-Christians. I’m not saying you shouldn’t talk about your faith to others, but when it comes to evangelization actions are just as important as words. So if you are going to say your a Christian that you better do your best to live like one. But I know when I talk to coworkers, or fellow ministers it’s important to remind them that God is with them, encourage them in Christ. I know when Alfred and Deborah do that for me, it makes a world of difference.
