This is the time of year where we Catholics fast in preparation for the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. I’m not sure what I’m going to give up, in my men’s group this morning we talked about idols and one thought that came to my mind was March Madness. I love college basketball, I obsess over the tournament and the bracketology…yes that is an actual term. In fact I was a little upset at myself when I planned the Confirmation retreats during the beginning of the tournament. Unfortunately, I’ve made March Madness an idol. I know for Lent, and this is huge for me I’m not going to do a bracket…sorry people. I’m not sure if I can eliminate college basketball totally from my radar; however, this Lent and hopefully in the future I’m not going to let interfere with my job, my marriage or my relationship with God…this is going to be an interesting 6 weeks.
