It snowed; therefore, I ran. One of my favorite things to do in the winter is run when it’s snowing. There is just something about running in the snow that’s comforting and peaceful, it helps me listen to God. We are in the second week of Advent and currently in this series Advent Conspiracy where we are looking at spending less on presents and more on the presence of Christ. Over the next couple of weeks my goal is to get rid of the chaos that the culture has created during this time and really just focus on what’s important.
One of the things that has suffered for me over the last couple of months is the quality time I spend with God. I’ve had great moments, but nothing consistent and that’s what I hope to gather between now and Christmas…some consistency. I’m going to use yesterday as a mile marker in this journey…it was a great way to get started it was just me, the snow and God and He was whispering to me, “Chris have peace.”
I invite everyone who reads this blog to join me over the next couple of weeks as I embark on this journey. This is personal, but I’ll do my best to give you something to gnaw on. Now, I’m not saying go out running in the snow, but find sometime tonight or tomorrow to read: 1 Kings 19:11-13. Where do you need to go to hear God? For me it’s running in the snow.
