It Blizzard Therefore I Ran

About 18 inches is what we got in Pikesville, I know Columbia and other places go into the 20’s but we got a lot of snow and it was awesome. I went for a run when there was about 5 inches on the ground. I put on my snow spikes (I’m not sure about the official name) which allows me to gain traction and I ran on side streets. Usually I would hit the main roads but with no side walks shoveled I didn’t think it was wise to play chicken with oncoming traffic in a snow storm.
The news was calling it a blizzard, my wife and I debated that but after looking up the definition on Wikipedia I guess you could call it a blizzard. But, regardless of what you call it, yesterday was a great day for my wife and I just to spend time. We watched a few movies and baked cookies, gingerbread men (and women) and made a gingerbread house…we essentially created a village with all the time we had. Anyway, the snow gave us time to relax…on the busiest shopping day of the year, we were able to just be with one another. We spent less time worrying about the holidays and gave more of our time to one another.
As Christmas quickly approaches, I’m hoping for more of those moments…yesterday was a preview into our Christmas morning. It’s funny how God will set up those opportunities for us…I know there are some inconveniences with yesterday’s snow, but in the end we could just enjoy one another and it’s because God set it up that way. Imagine if God didn’t set it up, what’s one action step you can take this week to organize more time in your schedule to spend with those you love?
