I still work on the weekends…it’s just different

I made the mistake of saying at the 5:30pm Mass yesterday that I don’t have anything to do on Sundays now that programs are over with. In fact, there were many people who asked me what do I do now that Sundays are different. I feel as if I actually work harder, because it’s a day of many distractions, but it’s a great day to convey and clarify what we are trying to do in regards to youth ministry. I love talking to my ministers and friends that I see on the weekend, but I probably should make more of an effort introducing myself to new people, spreading my influence, making sure others feel connected to the Nativity family. But, that happens before and after every Mass. During the Sept-May season I spent the time during Mass and the 1pm – 4pm period constantly preparing for Ascent, Resurrection and Uprising. Now, I wish to spend that time in three ways:

1. Meeting with students and ministers.
2. Researching other youth ministries (either online or visiting them).
3. Writing out program (meaning tweaking this past year, looking at how to grow and market Upward Ministries).

I’m sure this might change over the summer, I might come across new projects, but the summer is an excellent time to strengthen, grow and increase our capabilities. This was a great year, but next year will be even better.
