It’s about 40 degrees outside right now and I’m wearing shorts because it’s supposed to get into the 60’s (which I know is a little cold for some), but I’m doing some wishful thinking. It’s supposed to be in the 70’s for tomorrow and Saturday, so I’m hopeful that this means Spring weather is finally here. I guess it’s that whole mentality of believing enough to make it happen.
Unfortunately that type of mentality can get us burned, because just believing in something doesn’t make it so,you have to believe in the right thing and the right people.
When it comes to faith in God I feel as if the problem is that these unrealistic images and expectations of God have been created and we begin to believe that’s the way God really is and then BOOM we set ourselves up for disappointment. We make God up to be like Santa or a genie where all we need to do is ask and then receive. And while God loves us (more than Santa) and can give us more (than a genie), He also knows what’s best for us and He will give us what we need. We just need to believe those two things and knock down false expectations and standards.
So even though I want 70 degree weather, I know in the end God will give me a blessed day.
