Advent Conspiracy

H2O, H2O, H2O

Thanksgiving is over. Generation Change is over and now it’s time to move to Christmas (I know the majority of the country has already been in Christmas mode.) Right now I’m sucking on a candy cane to get into the Christmas spirit (not really working). This series Advent Conspiracy is about encouraging and challenging people to think less about the presents they buy and more about sharing the presence of Christ. To do this we are asking people to take four steps:

  1. Worship Fully – Instead of focusing on the madness, focus on Christ. In the end when we think about God and everything He has blessed us with we feel real joy, a joy that will always last.
  2. Spend Less – Now we aren’t telling people to buy gifts, we are just asking them to buy one less gift for someone which leads us to the third step:
  3. Give More – Instead of that gift you were going to buy, do something for that person, write them a letter, spend time with them or make something for them. Give them something that comes from your heart, because in the end memories last longer than things.
  4. Love All – Now that people are spending less money we want them to use the money they are saving towards building wells in Nigeria. By building wells we can provide clean water to those that need it.

I know for me getting into the Christmas mode is a little difficult because there are so many difficult memories. I do have some great memories but really this time can leave us feeling worn out and even negative about family, friends and our faith. To help the students we are putting together an Adoration service. We are putting together time for them to just be with God. It’ll be a peaceful experience where they can Worship Fully and remember it’s about being in His presence.
