For the last two weeks we have been talking about how there is a Drama to Life. Last week we talked about how in life you need a game plan. This game plan was all about finding your purpose through honoring God, connecting to other believers, serving your neighbor, growing in your faith and reaching out to others. This week we talked about the plan again; however, we spoke about execution. It’s great to have a plan, but a plan is pointless if you don’t put it into action. But before you begin putting your plan into action you must remember:
All things are possible for God.
Once you allow God to help you through life this is how you can fulfill the purposes he has instore for you.
If you want to worship and honor God:
Romans 12:1 – I urge you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, your spiritual worship.
– Surrender yourself, literally get down on your knees and tell God you want to give your wholeself to him. Once you let go of your fears, worries, vices, etc. and hand them over to God it will be easier to feel his presence. When you offer yourself to God you show him your love.
If you say you love your neighbor you then know:
Matthew 25:45 – ‘Amen, I say to you, what you did not do for one of these least ones, you did not do for me.
– When you ignore someone, you are ignoring God, when you help someone you are helping God. God is everywhere, he is in all of us and he created and loves us all equally. Our actions are never towards people alone, they always involve God.
When you are a part of a Christian Community you know:
Proverbs 27:17 – As iron sharpens iron, so man sharpens his fellow man.
– When people come together in the name of Christ great things happen. Teams win championships, not one person. In life great things happen when people come together and unite under one cause. The most powerful cause is God’s will.
If you want to understand your faith you must:
Philippians 2:5 – Have among yourselves the same attitude that is also yours in Christ Jesus,
– Jesus is the son of God, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t pray, or ignore scripture. Jesus prayed constantly, Jesus preached the word because he knew the word. If we want to live our lives like Christ, if we want to follow Christ we need to know how Christ lived. By studying scripture, praying and reflecting we can grow in our faith and obtain a Christ like attitude.
If you care about your faith you will reach out to others by:Colossians 4:5 – Conduct yourselves wisely toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity.
– Before Jesus left he called his disciples to GO! He told his disciples to tell others about him, baptize them, he told them to spread God’s love and word. We are called to do the same. Every moment you have with someone is an opportunity to save a life.
God gave us a game plan. The one we study here at Church of the Nativity are the 5 purposes described by Rick Warren in Purpose Driven Life. They aren’t his, they can be found in the bible. Other people have other plans that are biblical as well. There is no one plan, but we all have a purpose. In order to find our God given purpose, in order to follow God’s will we need a plan, don’t be afraid to give yourself to God, because nothing is impossible with him.
Reflect on this:
What purpose are you most passionate about?
Which is the hardest for you to achieve?
What is holding you back from surrendering to God’s will?
What can help you move forward in your faith journey?
