Elevate

I met last night with two small group leaders regarding a new ministry we are putting together called Elevate. It’s something they have been very persistent about doing and they have put a lot of thought into it. These leaders are dedicated and have done so much for the ministry so I’m excited to see this come together. The working mission statement is to impact the ethical and moral choices of teens by providing them a safe environment to play and pray. A place where they can be free to embrace God’s power to heal, encourage and strengthen through His creation.
Right now to launch this ministry we are going to take a group of middle school and high school guys hiking to Old Rag Mountain. On the hike we will spend some time mentoring these young guys with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Right now this is only for guys eventually we’ll open it up to girls, but we want to give teenage boys the opportunity to learn Christian masculinity from God’s creations, whether that’s found in an outdoor setting or urban setting. Fine tuning the ministry is still necessary and so we will be approaching this year as the inaugural year, but I think God has big plans for this ministry and it should be exciting to watch it grow.
