3 People Your Ministry Needs To Go To The Next Level

You are limited, even as a leader.  That means you can only take your ministry so far on your own.  No one likes to feel limited; however, it can be freeing to know that you can’t do this on your own.

Once you embrace the fact that you need a team it’s about finding the right people.  With the right people you will be able to reach more students and have a larger impact on the community around you.  That’s why you need a:

DREAMER

Every leadership team needs someone who is going to think big and outside of the box.  When you have a dreamer you have someone who is going to help you answer the question:

What should youth ministry look like 5 years from now?”

To find that dreamer share the vision you have and see who gets excited about it.  Give them the responsibility to cast vision, advocate on your behalf and recruit ministers.  They’ll help your ministry create the buzz it needs to gain momentum.

DOER

There are people who know how to get the job done.  They aren’t afraid to delegate, get their hands dirty and see the job through.  They are the people who will step up and say:

I got this.”

To find the doer look for people who care about getting the job done even if it means getting dirty and working behind the scenes.  Be sure to thank them for their hard work, and invest in their professional development.

NURTURER

In order for your ministry to grow you need people who are going to care for your people.  That means finding people who listen, and look out for others.  They are the people who constantly ask:

“How are you doing?”

To find the nurturers look for people who care about you.  These are people who will go out of their way to make sure you succeed.  Ask them to take on the responsibility of shepherding your people.  When people are cared for they’ll step up their commitment and get the job done.

If you can surround yourself with people who get the job done, dream big and care for others it will give you the margin you need to lead.  You will create a winning team where people are happy to serve.
